Breakfast at Egg Harbor Cafe, Wheaton

Out in the western suburbs of Chicago is the prosperous and wealthy town of Wheaton. Located slightly north of its rather more famous cousin Naperville, this town was voted as one of the best places to live in America by CNN (you can read about it here). One of the things that attracted me to this town was the wide variety of food options that the main city center area offers. One joint, called the Egg Harbor Cafe, has received some rave reviews for offering one of the best breakfast options in the western suburbs of Chi-town. And boy was I in for a treat!

Upon entering the cafe, you are greeted by a host, who being a member of the family that runs the cafe, adds a homely feel to the whole experience. The menu has a wide range of options, ranging from crepes, egg based dishes, pancakes, french toasts, sandwiches, salads, meat dishes, chilaquiles, brekfast burritos, oatmeal, and a lot more (check out the menu here). Overwhelmed with so many choices, I decided to go for the classic option of Harbor Signature Pancakes, grits that were slow cooked with white cheddar cheese, and some scrambled eggs. The pancakes also came with a serving of maple syrup. To top off this breakfast fit for a king, I got a serving of watermelon juice.
