Osaka Aqualiner Boat Tour

A great way to experience Osaka is by water on the Okawa river, which runs right through the heart of the city. A water bus company called Aqua Liner has an hour long round trip boat journey which offers an unusual yet interesting way of seeing Osaka. There are 4 stops on the route, and at each of these stops, the water bus arrives at one hour intervals (for complete schedule and other details, see official site of aqualiner water bus). The boat tour is a great addition to a visit of the Osaka Castle, as one of the starting points for the boat journey is located right behind Osaka castle. The pier is called Osaka-jo pier and it is situated less than 100m to the east of the Osaka Castle Hall. Tickets can be purchased at the pier office.

Taking the round trip journey also gives a great chance to check out some cool architecture of Osaka, since there are lots of government buildings with colonial architecture, as well as corporate offices with modern architecture. The same boat company offering the round trip also offers three other cruises, one is a lunch/dinner cruise (Himawari), one is Dotombori/Castle route (Aqua mini) and one is the Osaka port tour (Santa Maria). All are worth exploring. Below are pictures of a round trip journey starting and ending at Osaka-jo pier:
